White Tara usually sits upon a moon disc. Her soft expression is benevolent as she smiles delicately. Upon her head she wears a jewel-studded diadem. Her jet black hair is made into two neat buns, one atop the other. Her graceful form is adorned with many beautiful jewels and ornaments. Her right hand is in the boon granting gesture (Varadha Mudra), her left holds the stem of the pure white lotus flower which contains a bud, a bloom and a half bloom, said to represent the Buddhas of past, present and future.
